The National Diabetes Audit (NDA) provides a comprehensive view of diabetes care in England and Wales. It measures the effectiveness of type 1 diabetes healthcare against National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) Clinical Guidelines and NICE Quality Standards.
Making clinical audit data transparent
In his transparency and open data letter to Cabinet Ministers on 7 July 2011, the Prime Minister made a commitment to make clinical audit data available from the national audits within the National Clinical Audit and Patient Outcomes Programme.
What information is being made available?
Type 1 diabetes audit data for 2020 to 2021 are available at England and Wales level.
Using and interpreting the data
Data from the National Diabetes Audit, Type 1 Diabetes Audit should not be looked at in isolation when assessing standards of care.

The data are being made available on the data.gov website.
What does the data cover?
The open data file contains demographics, care processes, treatment targets and insulin pump usage data for the type 1 cohort at CCG/LHB, ICS, Provider, Region and National level.
What period does the data cover?
The data covers the period 01 January 2020 to 31 March 2021. This National Report was published on 16 June 2022.
